ABOUT

Clothing as structure. Memory as method. Process as philosophy.

YUHAN AO is a London-based fashion brand rooted in emotional memory, structural clarity, and the understated power of handcraft.

Founded by designer Yuhan Ao, the brand draws from his upbringing in a linen textile factory in China, where his earliest encounters with clothing were shaped not by trends, but by labor. His grandmother would spin linen by hand—pulling and twisting raw fibers with meditative precision. This quiet, repetitive work instilled a fundamental respect for time, patience, and the invisible processes behind every garment.

Before fashion came into view, yuhan understood craftsmanship, slowness, and the value of things made by hand. These remain the cornerstones of the brand.

In the UK, he discovered tailoring—not merely as a technique, but as a language. The hidden canvas beneath the surface of a suit echoed the textures of his childhood. Tailoring became a vessel for memory: precise yet imperfect, intimate yet restrained.

Among these layered memories stands the image of his mother— graceful, composed, and quietly present. She was never at the center, never loud, but always there. Through exposed seams and structural silhouettes, yuhan continues to reach for the sketch of her he carries within— gentle, unwavering, and foundational—like an internal lining: rarely seen, yet essential to form.

YUHAN AO exists to give shape to the unseen, to honor the labor, the memory, and the emotional residue embedded within structure.

Not to display what is already visible, but to render visible what lies beneath
